The Pastor's Aide Ministry started at First A.M.E. Church in 1993 during the tenure of Rev. George Moore, Jr. The original president was the late Mrs. Minnie J. Diggs. She was succeeded by Mrs Vallie Smith who served faithfully until her death in 2003.  This ministry is still active in serving the needs of its pastor. Monthly meetings are held each 3rd Sunday after the worship service. The group hosts activities for the pastor and first lady during special days and occasions such as birthdays, anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Pastor's Appreciation Day, annual conference, etc.

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need.  Practice hospitality."  Romans 12:11-13

Our Mission Statement:  To assist the pastor in the ministry of fulfilling his clergical  duties.

Our Goals : The pastor's aide ministry is committed to:

·          Providing necessary support to the pastor and his family within the church with encouraging words, prayers, and

         other actions of love.

·          Extending hospitality to visiting ministers, their families, and guests.

·          Hosting activities for the Pastor and the First Lady during special days and occasions.

·          Assisting the Pastor in fulfilling his goals for the church and community.

 

Our Ministries

 

Condolence & Gifts of Love Ministry

·          Responds to bereavements in our church with cards, flowers, and other expressions of sympathy.

·          Provides food baskets, monetary gifts, and etc. to others as needed.

Care & Concern/Sick Ministry

·          Calls members who miss two or more Sundays in a row to see whether we could assist them.

·          Provides for the needs of the sick and elderly.

·          Visits members and friends of the church in area hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, and in their homes.

·          Keeps in touch with members by phone or visit to find out about their well-being.

 

Hospitality/Greeters/Visitors' Ministry

·          Invites, meets, and greets visitors to the church.

·          Welcomes and collects information on visitors and friends for pastor's use.

·          Coordinates and/or assists with special occasions (i.e., Pastor's Appreciation) and other church-related events.

·          Greets all persons with a smile and a warm embrace. You are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14)

·          Greets all persons with good and helpful words of encouragement. (Ephesians 4:29)

·          Presents all persons with a cheerful look and joyful heart. (Proverb 15:30)
